In a forbidden room deep within her family’s palace, Princess Shulamit finds and becomes enchanted with a glimmering mirror. She sings to it, in hopes it will show her whom she is meant to be.

“Watch Where You’re Walking” and “Deep Within” Scene 1
His sister imprisoned in stone by the Mirror Demons, a desperate Prince Raphael has run into the forest searching for help to free her. He comes upon a cranky (but wise) mycologist who tells him to find Auntie Malka.

Auntie Malka has told Prince Rafi about Elijah, owner of a mystical violin whose music can release his sister from the Mirror Demon. Though Zohara, her niece, agrees to help, she doubts her ability to do so. Auntie Malka helps Zohara find her inner strength.

Night falls. Prince Rafi and Zohara find a place to rest. After Rafi falls asleep, demons emerge to dance around him and taunt Zohara. Or is Zohara only imagining them?

Frightened, Zohara calls for Auntie Malka. She hears Auntie Malka’s voice reassuring her, and singing trees urge her to stay the course.

Prince Rafi and Zohara come across an old man they hope is Elijah. He is at first coy, telling them that he has heard of the violin, which can heal, but in the wrong hands, can bring destruction.
